Reflection…
So I am finally getting ‘used’ to this whole summer thing. It always takes me awhile to settle in to a new routine and accept the changes that go with the end of a school year and the beginning of a new summer. As much as I’ve been looking forward to summer and the end of ‘work’ and the beginning of ‘rest’ :), I find that it still takes me some time to get used to things.
Anyway… as I was thinking about this summer and the things I wanted to do this summer, I began thinking about how much I have changed in the last year. Though I haven’t changed drastically, as I thought back to the person I was in September, I realized that throughout this school year I have changed in many small ways. This year has been an amazing year and yet a very hard year at the same time, and through it I’ve learned some interesting lessons. So, that being said, I thought I’d share some of the less ‘personal/specific’ things with you.
So here goes… the things I’ve learned this year (and still continue to learn)…
- to never take for granted the many things I’ve been given
- that I have some of the best friends in the world :)
- that sometimes friends move on and people change. This hurts, but it is part of life.
- that God NEVER changes – he is the Rock – he is Faithful! (Hebrews 10:23)
- To trust God in all areas of life, not just certain areas.
- That even those who seem to have it ‘all together’ don’t
- That judging others often means that you haven’t really taken the time to understand them (so many people have stories behind them that we don’t know about)
- That trips to East Side Marios with ‘the girls’ is one of my favourite things to do
- How to get the most out of your money at East Sides…. (Mich and Bec? :))
- That 2+2=4… wait…that lesson wasn’t this year… Moving on…
- That I am really bad at philosophy of history :)…(cheers to Rich though for helping me study)
- That sometimes God wants us to get up and LOOK for the places in which we can be of service for him and not just wait for those things to come to us.
- That prayer really is powerful
- That no family is ‘perfect’
- That laughter is one of the best things in the world
- That tears can sometimes be a good thing
- That being outdoors in nature is one of the best places to be…
- That if we dwell on the past too much, we miss out in the present
- That bad days do eventually come to an end
- That even though the Leafs lost this year, there is always next year… :)
- That one of my favourite pastimes is singing… (choir tour.. sniff…)
- That some friends stick by you through it all
- That though I’ve made lots of mistakes, God can still use them for good
- That God doesn’t always spell out for us exactly what we should do
- To time my life by God’s watch, not my own
- That any job can be meaningful if you are mindful of the fact that all the work we do is for the glory and honour of God.
- That work just isn’t the same w/o you Bekah… :)
- That if you drive your bosses golf-cart around you’d better be careful not to break it… (whew.. close call… :))
- And lastly…that I am addicted to msn (I’m overcoming my addiction though! 1 small step at a time. Only 11 more to go now… :))
